Israeli Shlichot
Hachnasat Orchim (welcoming the stranger) is a core Jewish value. In the spirit of Hachnasat Orchim, Camp JCC is excited to welcome two shlichot, Israeli counselors, to work as specialists each summer. Throughout the summer, these counselors teach our campers the history and culture of Israel through stories, games, songs, dance, music and crafts. Camp JCC is looking for families to host one of these counselors for 3 week intervals between June 4 - August 16.
Meet Yali Meiri, Rikud (Israeli Dance) Specialist
I’m 20 years old and am from a small village in Israel called Gan Hayim. I’m the youngest in a big family with four older brothers—and one adorable dog! I’m totally comfortable around pets and happy to stay with families who have them.
In the Israel Defense Forces, I served in an operational role at the training school for elite units Shaldag and Unit 669, where I coordinated training programs and logistics to help everything run smoothly behind the scenes in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
I’m beyond excited to step out of my comfort zone this summer—to represent Israel, meet amazing campers and my host family, and create meaningful, joy-filled experiences together.
My favorite things to do include traveling, dancing, yoga, Pilates, swimming, baking, playing games, and spending time at the beach or by the pool. I love kids, love meeting new people, and am ready for a fun, empowering summer full of new adventures!
Meet Maya Bar-Lev, Tarboot (Israeli Culture) Specialist
I’m 20 years old. I live in Kibbutz Bahan, located in the beautiful Emek Hefer region of Israel. I’m the oldest of three siblings, with a 17-year-old brother and a 13-year-old sister and two dogs.
During my service in the Israel Defense Forces, I worked as an Education NCO (Mashakit Hinuch), leading educational programs for my unit and helping soldiers stay connected to the meaning and values behind their service. I also organized fun activities and special events to keep morale high.
I’m so excited for this incredible experience—spending the summer at camp, meeting new people, improving my English, and discovering life in the U.S. from the inside. I can’t wait to connect with my host family and share everyday moments together.
When I’m not at camp, you can find me singing, dancing, drawing, or making music—I love expressing myself creatively! I’m so grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait for an amazing summer ahead!
